Old Chestnut Grove Cemetery sits off Lewis Road in Olmsted Falls, OH, not to be mistaken for Chestnut Grove Cemetery that is also located on Lewis Road in O.F approximately a mle away. If you plan to visit Old Chestnut Grove, and get confused, it's the OLDER and Spookier looking cemetery! =) 

Old Chestnut Grove Cemetery is legendary for its superantural activity. Having grown up in Olmsted Falls, I heard the 'rumor' that many years ago a woman was executed, thought to be a witch, and was buried here. The witche's grave, now unmarked after years of vandalism, is nestled between three trees. Rumor has it, she comes out on Halloween Night and 'curses' you with bad luck should you dare visit her grave.

I spoke with the caretaker, Dan Hill, who explained if indeed a witch was buried in the alleged plot, it made sense she was buried where she was. He further explained that the 'witche's grave' falls outside cemetery property lines (although it is inside the cemetery) which would lend credence to the story as she'd never have been buried within cemetery property lines because within was considered 'sacred ground' during the witchcraft delusion era(s).

It is unclear when the alleged execution occurred. What is known is that Olmsted Falls was part of territory granted by the U.S. government to Connecticut settlers who were displaced after the Revolutionary War (now commonly known as the "Western Reserve"). Research has turned up little to substantiate witch trials and/or executions iin this area. Colonial Connecticut was a hotbed of witchcraft delusions prior to the relocation to the Western Reserve. REPORTS OF STRANGE LIGHTS, UFO SIGHTINGS

In addition to the legend of the witche's grave, local police have been called numerous times by residents reporting 'strange lights' flashing in the night sky over the cemetery. I myself have seen these 'strange blinking lights' here and in the metroparks which surround the cemetery. On September 26, 2004, Olmsted Falls Police investigated and photographed a flying object/UFO near the cemetery.

COVENS, CULTS, & KIDS

Many people recognize the supernatural actvity taking place here and covens of witches, occult groups, and young kids out to party, visit when the cemetery is closed which also brings police, who often find cemetery property vandalized.

VANDALISM

I've observed tangible vandalism in Old Chestnut Grove Cemetery over the years.  Whether it's gaping holes in the ground, tipped over headstones, or several headstones situated on one plot, this cemetery has a disheveled appearance. Most disturbing are the piles of loose dirt with items arranged on top, as it looks very ritualistic. My take is it is a combination of inconsiderate people and the paranmormal activity taking place.

THE INVESTIGATIONS

In truth, I entered this particular investigation with a lot of skepticism. I was under the impression that cemeteries weren't haunted by anything but people's imaginations. People were just creeped out by all the dead bodies buried within was my opinion. It didn't take me more than a few minutes after my first visit to realize that Old Chestnut Grove Cemetery was in fact teeming with paranormal activity. Why? I wondered, as I wasn't naturally inclined to think spirits would want to hang around their tomstones and lifeless decaying bodies. Yet in spite of that fact, myself, and countless other paranormal researchers collect some of our best evidence in cemteries. Eventally I arrived at a theory, and that is cemeteries are a 'mutual meeting ground' between the living and the dead. When you stop at a tombstone, and begin reading the stone, it seems to call the spirit forward.

We've collected scores of evps from this location, as well, we've filmed moving orbs, and even a still photograph where an orb has the clear image of a man's face inside. I've been tapped, breathed on, heard footsteps when no one was around me,
